I didn't think it was their best album, but I love that it's dedicated to The Rev's death. This was a good review & I agree with everything you said. :)
Good job!
I can listen to the album perfectly fine, Fiction is fine because it's like he's telling us to hold on and be strong through the times...
But the song that really gets me is So Far Away. Just because of the state Brian was in when he wrote it, I can imagine the pain he went through because it had to be similar to what I felt when I lost my closest friend a few years ago. Excruiating and all I wanted to do when I heard that song for the first time (I hadn't listened to it for 2-3 weeks after the album came out) was hug Brian, tell him that it'd be okay. He's an amazing guy and the one line that still gets me each and every time I manage to listen to the song is, "I love you, you were ready." The line just seems to reign so true, Jimmy knew he was going to die and they all did in one way or another. Not as a fact but subconsciously, I think they did. So Far Away is the one song that simply...sums up everything I've been feeling for a long time about my friend and now, Jimmy.
In my humble opinion, it's the best song the band has ever done. Period.
Very good article on a very good album. I think this is my favourite of their albums (followed closely by their self-titled). You can hear the development of the band through their albums and I definitely think they are going in the right direction. I love these guys so much and only 10 days before I get to see them for the first time!
This was a well-written article, and I agree with everything you said. It's a solid album from top to bottom, and all of the emotions are just...overwhelming. Great job. :)
When I first heard Fiction I got goosebumps. The song is just so amazing I have no words to describe it. I cry everytime I hear the Rev and Shadows voice blending together.
