I listened to "The Catalyst", "Waiting For the End", and "Blackout" a few nights ago and liked them. I went on a lim and bought this CD today.

I have to say some of the songs aren't to my taste and don't sound like the Linkin Park I love. But I'm trying to be a true fan to the band and appreciate what they're doing. Yes, some of the songs are good, but I don't care for the fact that its Linkin Park that's singing those songs, because to me they sound so different. I prefer their old hardcore stuff like "Papercut", "One Step Closer", "Somewhere I Belong" and even "New Divide" I suppose suficed.

I'm just gonna stick with them and say it was an okay job guys.

The music of Linkin Park has most definitely changed, however, all their old stuff sounded almost the same. I do love all their old stuff more than their newest album just because I can relate to that stuff more so, but this direction is driven by what the band as a whole is feeling in relation to the music they write. Its not about the fans, its about the music the musicians wants to write, not what a fan wants to listen to.

I've enjoyed all their albums but this one really stands out, because it sounds so different from their old stuff, they are really good live, they put on an amazing show (09-11-2010) probably my favourite track is "Wretches and Kings" or "When They Come For Me"

I honestly truly anjoy their music, even their new stuff, even though I do really miss Mike's rapping. I feel like, even though they were right to change up their stuff, they should have kept some stuff, so that it's not like they were changing completely. I will always love Linkin Park, from Xero to Hybrid Theory to the Linkin Park we know today, but I'm always gonna say Hey, give us some of the old stuff too, yknow.
Thank you for saying this was well written, @km23 I appreciate that.

I was a huge fan of Linkin Park's first three albums. But I hated this one so much that I couldn't even finish it. It isn't because I hate it when bands change, I'm all for it when bands grow. I just feel that LP grew in a horrible, horrible direction.

    This was very well written!

@ Flo, I think its really ironic how you hated the Jay-z and linkin Park Duets when the music the both created was considered to be the most genious thing that has ever happened in the music industry.

They were my favorite band and they were pretty much the band that 'saved' me at the time I was going through some bad stuff. I love their old style and the songs...even though half of them seemed to be pretty much about the same. For me something happened around the time they made the remixes with Jay-Z that they stopped being my favorite band and I started doubting what they were doing or if they were still the same band I fell in love with. I don't want to say that the change is bad. The change is actually what every band goes through, but there's just something that makes me like them less and less :/ But I still keep on listening to their music. There's just something wrong. I've listened to the new album and while some songs are good the other half seems pointless to me(like the short ones). It's okay to experiment with new styles, but sometimes I wonder if they forgot about the fans? I don't want to say that they should repeat Hybrid Theory and Meteora over and over. There's just something wrong in my opinion.

Linkin Park has been my favorite band since I was 9 years old (I'm now 19). Yes, their sound is entirely different now-a-days, but it's what THEY wanted. They didn't do it to make more money, they did it because they didn't want to make the same sounding record over & over again. Chester said himself that he didn't care if A Thousand Suns sold any copies, he was still proud of it. I will always support them no matter what they choose to do. LPU for Life <3
