Listen Up All You Crash Queens and Motor Babies

I recently borrowed Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys from my friend thinking I wouldn't enjoy My Chemical Romance's new sound but it's safe to say I have fallen in love with every aspect of the Album from the lyrics to the characters.

At first I had my doubts, being used to My Chemical Romance as the loud rock band with really meaningful lyrics I was worried their new happier sound would change the quality of their songs but after popping the CD into my laptop and blasting the songs for the whole house to hear I realised I shouldn't have worried.

The whole Killjoy concept for Danger Days has fasinated me from the first time I heard Dr. Death Defying speak the words 'Look alive, sunshine.', the apocalyptic, government run Battery City has set the scene for hard hitting lyrics such as; 'Fame is now injectable', We'll have to make it on our own, face all the pain and take it on', 'Here comes the gang war', 'Get off the ledge and drop the knife' and 'Salute the dead and lead the fight' these lyrics are perfectly mixed with a range of upbeat, electronic, quiet, loud, fast and slow instrumentals.

I sound a lot more professional than I actually am here...

Not only is the music amazing for a band that is trying something completely different to anything they have done before but the artwork, the costumes, the characters and the whole Killjoy world is just phenomanal and a big difference for the band, any new fans wouldn't believe My Chemical Romance could have ever been called 'emo' or a 'suicide cult' with their creation of the vibrant rebel gang The Killjoys.

Anyone unfamiliar with the concept of The Killjoys is missing out.

The Killjoys are a rebel gang consisting of Party Poison, The Kobra Kid, Jet-Star, Fun Ghoul and any fan who wants to be a part of something that are trying to bring down Better Living Industries, a corperation that promotes mind altering drugs that make everything seem wonderful, the gang's adventures are comentated by a pirate radio station hosted by Dr. Death Defying whose broadcasts are feautured throughout the album.

The broadcasts help to tell the story but the full story is missing from the album, although a comic book is in the process of production that portrays the full story of the fabulous Killjoys.

I'm getting off track so I'll finish by saying that I love the new direction My Chemical Romance are going in and I can't wait to see them grow in popularity and finally lose their stereotypes.
