Vulnerable by The Used - Comments

  • This album is really amazing. I love all but maybe two tracks that haven't yet grown on me. By far my absolute favorites are Hands and Faces and Put Me Out. They're both just classic The Used sound, in my opinion. Of course, it doesn't get better than a band's first and original work but it's damn close. Great article; very well-written!

  • I didn't even know this happened so I'm kinda in shock right now. The Used used to be one of my favourite bands in junior high. Has it really only been three years since then? I'm not sure if I'd like this album by the way you describe it. I've grown out of their old sound and I'm not a fan of the dubstep sound. I might try it. Mostly because Bert's voice is angelic and I love it but hey, even that might have changed, yeah?

  • Awesome review! I think you mentioned some really good points there, and it's great that you kept it short and sweet. I especially like your introduction and conclusion. :)

Personally for me, it's just as you've said: In Love And Death and Lies For The Liars are my favorite albums by them (it's a tie; I really can't choose one over the other!); they're the two albums that made The Used one of my most favorite bands of all time. Vulnerable isn't a favorite, but it's pretty good. I don't love it, but I do quite like it.

And again, it's just like you said; I don't like dubstep, but it was indeed fresh, and I feel that The Used pulled it off really well. I've always loved the way the band experiments with their music style, anyway; I highly respect them for always writing songs that sound notably different from their other songs, unlike some artists (I don't mean to offend anyone here, but *cough* Taylor Swift *cough*).

I would rate the album around 7-8 out of 10 myself. All in all, great review!

  • Hmm, if they sounded the same we'd never listen to them. I'm glad they put some dubstep in it, but they didn't over due it like some bands do. I also like your lyric usage.
Your rating did seem sufficient too.
Though one some that I probably will never like is Now That You're Dead.
It was one shot from perfection.
The album is meaningful in many ways.

  • the Used are amazing. At first, i was tentive (mainly because my favorite band is My Chemical Rmomance and they aren't exactly friends anymore...) but I listened to "The taste of Ink" and was amazed. They truely are brilliant artists, I am amazed with how each of thei albums are different, yet similar.

  • i heard about the new The Used album and i was excited to listen to it, after reading this article i got slightly nervous. I've been a fan of the used since forever and i love each and every one of their songs. Reading this article and not knowing anything of their new album's sound but hearing they were experimenting with dubstep made me nervous mainly because i don't really like dubstep all that much. But i went onto youtube and listened to Hands and Faces and i liked it a lot, i guess it doesn't matter what The Used does i will always be a fan (:

  • OK, so this may sound weird to a lot of people, but the other day I went to Target to go buy my friend a birthday present and I saw this album. I didn't listen to The Used much before, just a couple of songs of their Art Work album. I bought it kind of on an impulse. OK, half impulse, half telling me 'Buy this album. You'll never know what it can do for you.' so I bought it. And let me just say, it was worth the ten bucks I paid. I can't wait to see them perform these songs at Warped Tour and I will flip my shit when they sign it and I get to meet Bert and the others. I loved your review. Keep up the great work. :)

  • I thought your review was quite fair, and definitely well-written. As for the new album, I'm really digging Vulnerable. I think it probably speaks to me because a lot of the lyrics relate to a situation I'm going through in my life right now and the songs have helped me pull through some rough times already, even though it's only been released for a few months. I've always loved Bert's voice and the fact that this new album is a step up as well as a reminder of their past songs definitely makes me excited for whatever they might have coming next. I can't wait to see them at Warped Tour on Friday. OMGYES
