"Seasides" by Smile

Smile's new EP, Seasides, is a great soundtrack to your summer. Much like they want to, you can sense a Hawaian feel to their tunes and a beach feeling.

1. California

This song describes the band's experience surfing in California, as well as friendship and love. These topics are recurring in the majority of their songs, as well as the summery, beach-y and relaxing sensation the tunes provoke.

2. Hot Summer

This is definitely one of the strong tracks on the album, considering it already has a music video. The title pretty much sums up the feel of the song, as it talks about that precise season and "dazzling waves."

3. Happy Too

As with most albums, this one needed a cute, swoon worthy love song. Right away it starts with the line "I stole a rose from the garden next door on my way to your door to give to you with my knee on the floor." Now, at least for me, that right there makes me love the song instantly. I understand it may seem cheesy, but when he sings the chorus: "It makes me happy if it makes you happy," I'm practically in love. Alright, not really, but still, it's a very adorable song.

4. Perfect Holiday

The whistling at the beginning sets the beachside atmosphere for this song. As with most of their work, you can find lyrics like "The sun was shining and the waves were breaking. You were cooking lovely breakfast just before we went out surfing." The rest of the song talks of a wonderful vacation free of luxuries and just enjoying nature, specifically the sun, sea and sand and cherishing the love you have.

5. Loveland

Even though it has a mellow and seemingly happy tune, the lyrics are a tad sadder than the rest, although the singer claims to be optimistic although he speaks of heartbreak. I really like the happy point of view of this band, and what else can you expect from a band called Smile?

In conclusion, I really recommend this EP to anyone who wants some happy, relaxing music to listen to.
