Yeah I do understand where you're coming from. I think he does sound a bit younger, but the experience of singing for a long time is still there, you know?

I like this review,I agree with majority of it. Though I don't know if its just me but, Billie's vocals sound young again in a lot of the songs on this record. Like they used to be on Dookie and Kerplunk. Its a good thing I think personally.

First, it's completely okay that you gushed. I love them too, they've been my fav band since I can't remember when, and I too am overjoyed they are back. Second, I agree with what you said. I'm really glad this wasn't a "rock opera about politics" because it wouldn't have worked. Like you said, a great variety, and I love listening to it all.

Don't get me wrong, I love that song, but it's just not quite as stand out as some of the others, I feel. It's hard for me to rate them, especially since I feel like they're all pretty darn good. Can't wait for Dos!

I'm listening to it right now. Augh, I love it.

I respectfully disagree with you. I think Billie Joe's greatest talent lies in his lyrics. These lyrics to me are no exception. And I think these lyrics are very Green Day-esque.

I think I take this album so much because it's the first non-political album they've done in almost 10 years. I'm really happy they strayed away from politics this time, I don't think I could have taken another one. Plus it ranges from songs I can put on my boyfriend's love CD to songs I can play when I'm really pissed off, which is what I love about Green Day. They have songs for me that I can play during any kind of mood I'm in. Sorry, I like to gush about Green Day. They're my favorite and I'm overjoyed that they're back.

I agree with everything you've said except I think "Fell For You" deserves a 5/5. By far my favorite one. ;)

Realistically, they're aiming their music at angsty teenagers, so it's reasonable that some of the lyrics are like that. That's just how they've always been, really.

In all honesty, I wasnt too thrilled with the whole album. Overall, I feel like, yes, the songs are catchy, but the lyrics are..lame at best. The sound like they were pulled from an angsty high schooler's diary. Not the kind of lyrics a 40 year old rock star should be writing. I've been a Green Day fan for as long as I could remember, and I honestly think they could do better than this. I'm gonna give it a few more listens and see if it grows on me.
