@ Sybreed Fair enough. But I don't think that the single plays justice to the rest of the album- it certainly doesn't sound like any of the other tracks. But it's your opinion.
I've only listen to the self-title single off this and that was the most boring waste of time ever. I'm not the biggest fan of them, but but I could always rely on them to deliver some feeling from me. The single was just just this dull, unengaging riff playing over and over again with the most banal, boring drum track ever recorded. It was worst than being bad. It was uninteresting in every single aspect. That really doesn't make me want to listen to the rest of the album.
OK, first off, congratulations for writing such an amazing review! I loved how you broke down every song, your knowledge of music is refreshing! Second thing, I too believe that this just may be their best album yet, Every song seems to showcase something new and raw. I really think they have created a masterpiece. And Three, there will always be the fans that are pining after Avenged's earlier days. This is an evolving band, they are constantly growing musically and for that I'm grateful. At the end of the day you can't please everybody, but I feel like they have come pretty damn close with this album. And on a side note, I really appreciate that this is about the music, not Matt and Brian's freakin' hair!
I'd like to add something. Doing Time has some sort of part where it sounds like 'Do you wanna bang heads with me' from Mother by Danzig. Also, This Means War has a Sad, But True vibe. As a little tiny thing, too, the beginning of the guitar solo sounds how Dimebag played it in Cemetary Gates, when Phil is screaming 'GATES', and the guitar follows his lead by making the guitar make a sort of screeching sound.
I haven't listened to the album fully yet. Only Shepherd of Fire, Hail to the King, and Doing Time. I can't wait to listen to the rest. This review is just.. so perfectly written, I can't even begin. <3
I totally love this review. It's exactly how I feel about the album. I was contemplating of doing a review myself and post it in my blog at blogger. But I can never write something like this. It's brilliant!
That's awesome that you got the article published! It was very well written and I can personally say that I agree with just about everything you said, particularly about Acid Rain. Thanks for sharing! Awesome job!
