Thank-you, that was very kind of you to say. I appreciate it.

I don't mind differing opinions or debates but in that instance, I just felt it pointless because as you said, it was judged off one song and not really knowing her personality. Obviously I don't know her, really, but she's more than just 'edgy' and it's wonderfully refreshing, for those that need that.

Maybe you'll find some gems on the album you like (I recommend the deluxe version). And if not, plenty more music you can tune into instead!

You weren't snide. Far from it. Trust me, my comment sounded far more snide than yours did.

I don't find it pointless, mainly because I think differing opinions should be known. Granted, since I haven't listen to this album, it is a bit judgmental and quick of me to offer a sweeping opinion of the album with one song. I'll probably give the album a spin sometime later.

I found it more of a slow-burn and something relatable. I also sincerely hope you weren't calling my response to you snide because it certainly isn't meant to read that way. I don't mind that you dislike it but I find it a little pointless you took the time to write all this out, and even comment in the first place, on an article written by someone who obviously enjoys the music, and it is meant for others who like it too, really.

I'm really sorry I'm dismissive of her, but New Americana has soured me on the album before I've even listened to it. The verses are to sluggish and slow, the verses don't connect with each other or the chorus, the lyrics are slapdash with odd references (She wants a new Americana, who's only definitive trait is the ability to spoke marijuana and its too obsess with namechecking in the first verse over describing over new americana like she attempts in the second verse), the production is mushy and clattering, has little melody over percussion driving the slow tempo, Halsey gives an insufferable tepid performance, and the Biggie and Nirvana reference was there for a rhyme and nothing more. She may have listen to them, but she didn't take any influence from them. Honestly, I'm too busy listening to other albums that interest me over albums with a lead-off single this off-putting. It may get better, but I don't want to try it out.

You like this. Good for you. I see no reason to be snide to people who likes music I don't like. Just note that I want to give my reasons for not liking it when you like it instead. Is that okay?

That seems to be a lot of people's immediate assumed opinion of her and I find it very closed-minded, but people are entitled to dislike her music. It just seems like a dismissive reason to give for it.

I've only listen to New Americana and my opinion of her is this.

"I'm so edgy!"

Yeah, I didn't like. I heard there's a couple of good songs (particularly 'Ghost'), but I don't feel like going through the dregs to get it.
