I read this book a few months back. It was in the 'teenage' section and I just grabbed it not knowing what it was. I was surprised when I got home to read the sumary in the book.
It was amazing. It was an eye opener. At some points I was sitting on my bed reading while crying! Truely amazing. :]
Is the author Nepalese?
Because it seems odd to place the action in such an ''exotic'' environment when modern slavery ''peacefully'' co-exists with our ideals of freedom and democracy in many western countries, including the US, the UK, Australia, Italy, Spain, etc. Actually I remember seeing a report or reading about this case of a rich business women of some sort turned her maids into slaves, abusing them both physically and emotionally. And she was a US citizens, a responsible one actually, she did a lot of charity.
But that kind of story would be maybe too hard to digest for us westerners. We just like to read about slavery in third world countries.
