okay okay okay okay ooookkkaaaaayyyy. the books were intersesting UNTIL the last book. they kept building it up and building it up and building it up and then at the last book it just sort of dies. i mean come on. NONE of the questins were answered. in fact the only thing tht was really resolved in the last is count olaf's hunt for the childrens fortune. and even then it was only because he died. wot a dissapointing ending.December 31st, 2010 at 12:02pm

Honestly, I love these books. Really, truly do. So the reason I haven`t read more than, say, three, is that they`re so depressing...December 6th, 2010 at 06:45am

Yeeeeess this series rocks. Uniquely it's one of the few book series I can think of that places more stress on the artful writing than the story itself, which makes it highly entertaining.November 27th, 2010 at 07:35am

This series is what got me into readong : )
I remember being in third grade and sneaking into the fifth grade rooms to steal these books. I read each one within a day and I loved it.
But it took forever to get the last book in fifth grade, because people kept taking it out of the damn library -_-
Buty I've read them all countless times, and I own the first three : )
Very good article :PNovember 25th, 2010 at 06:56pm -

I agree with Finley. I was such a goody-goody (and still am) that I whole-heartedly believed it was real. Snicket's manner of speech is just so captivating that you hardly realize he is still narrating until he interrupts with a quirky story from his own life or to explain the meaning of a word in the context of the story. I thoroughly enjoyed the books because of Snicket's writing style and the cliff-hangers that never failed to arise at the very end. The plot is complex and intriguing-- I definitely recommend the Series!November 7th, 2010 at 04:34pm

This series, in opinion, is one of the most enjoyable and well written. When I was younger, I read these books and from how Mr. Snicket talked, I always wondered to myself, "Did the Baudelaires escape Olaf at last, what happened to them, where are they?" I didn't realize till much later that it was fiction, I'm a bit of an idiot sure but I was five at the time, cut me some slackNovember 6th, 2010 at 04:37pm

I love this series, I read them when I was nine/ten-ish.
I used to be so obsessed that me and my friend thought Count Olaf was a spirit that was haunting us. :D
I also love the appearance of these books, and so does my mum and she keeps them on display because they are gorgeous.November 6th, 2010 at 12:40am -
I have read these books! They are really good and teach you a good life lesson. It is a heartbreaking tale of 3 kids! Ah I just love it!November 5th, 2010 at 01:38am

I adored these books when I was younger. I still do enjoy them, actually. They're quite different than your average children's book, even if that means they are slightly depressing. XDNovember 4th, 2010 at 10:19pm

I only ever read the first one and the eleventh one (I have no idea how I understood what was going in the eleventh since I skipped the ones inbetween XD) but I definitely do plan on reading all of them in order when I get the money to buy them, since I know they're the types of books I'd read again. :) very well written.November 4th, 2010 at 09:57pm

Is there going to be another movie? I always wondered why they made one out of the first three but never finished the series.
At the end of the article, you misspelled "definitely". "Defiantly" is a version of the word "defy"- to go against, not agree with, etc.November 4th, 2010 at 08:19pm -
I'm 18, and still love this books!
I first read them when I was like 9, but they are so well written that I still read them every now and then. The movie was horrible though, not gonna lie. I would skip it and read the books instead.November 4th, 2010 at 05:39pm -
I have watched the moive but never had a chance to read any of the books.
From what i have heard about them they sound really good so i hope i will be able to read them at some point.

I LOVED this series,
i'm not kidding, it was great.
however, I do wish that they explained more in "The end"November 4th, 2010 at 12:55am
Off topic here - Daniel Handler went to my high school. He's on the wall of fame and there's a frame of his book covers in the alumni display. If you read "The Basic 8", which is written under his real name, you'll basically understand what our school is like. It's a tradition to read before graduation. :3
