The Hunger Games - Comments

  • I really liked this book, it was so different to anything I had ever read before. I can't remember why I started reading it, but once I did, I was hooked. Dystopian/war type stories aren't really my thing, but Suzanne Collins opened me up to such an interesting and new world that it was hard to turn away from the book. I loved how relatable Katniss was and I especially loved the love triangle between her and Gale and her and Peeta. I adored Peeta from the very start, though and I am glad they ended up together. Movie Gale though (Liam Hemsworth) Happy face Great casting on that part!

    Very well written article!

  • I've seen a few of the big reviewers out there (yahoo) make the same mistake with the Peeta/Katniss relationship. Overall a nice review, though. Can't wait for the movie!

  • Thanks, I'll go and fix that now. The reason I used 'childhood friend' is because I thought I saw that in the book somewhere, or some other place. I'll change that too

  • Nice review! Although I disagreed with your opinion on a character or two, it was pretty well written. You have a few awkward sentences, but you've got one crucial plot mistake:

Then Katniss’s childhood friend, Peeta, is picked and they’re shipped off to the capitol.

Capitol should be capitalized, but the big mistake here is the term 'childhood friend'. They were never friends; before the Games, they hadn't even spoken, so that term is incorrect. She had only one run-in with him where he tossed bread to her and then she mentioned he stared at her sometimes. That's it. At the start of the story, the term 'childhood friend' is a vast overstatement. I'd go back and fix that.

Other than that, everything else was okay. Not too shabby of a review.
