The December Boys
This movie is shot in Kangaroo Island, just off the Adelaide coast and is based on the novel "The December Boys" by Michel Noonan. It is about four orphan boys all born in December and in December, the Orphanage gets a donation from an anonymous donor.
So the nuns and priest decide to give these "December Boys" a holiday on a trip to the seaside. Whilst there, they meet a couple who are desperate for children, but are unable to conceive. So between the three younger boys, Misty, Spark and Spit, their whole friendship turns upside down as it becomes a battle for the couple to adopt them.
Meanwhile, the oldest boy, Maps discovers something else while the other boys are "competing". He falls in a school boy crush with this girl called Lucy who is only here for the holidays. Daniel Radcliffe, star of the Harry Potter movies really shows in this movie that he can do really good things outside of Harry Potter and nails the character of Maps really easily.
This movie shows the true meaning of family, and just wanting to be wanted. It is fantastic, but shouldn't be only rated "PG" as there is some nudity and sex scenes. All in all, this movie would be great to watch over and over, and would be rated in my book as 4 and a half stars.
