This movie was amazing. Pandora was breathtaking. I wish somewhere like that really existed in our world. Of course, if it did, I'm sure we would just destory it anyway.
I read somewhere is these comments that it was degrading because of the similarity to "indians" and "our soldiers being killed." Yeah it is similar. This is exactly what happened to the natives isn't it? They were settled on land, that "our soldiers" wanted and so they were killed/tricked into giving it up. Only in the movie, they weren't given tiny reserves, they actually got to keep their land.
I loved this movie.
It was an experiences watching it, and even more of an experience when in the middle of the movie: the film melted. It was actually quite interesting.
I didn't get to see the whole thing since the film kinda disenegrated before the audiences eyes, but I cannot wait to re-watch it. I think itd be pretty cool to be one of the Na'vi, except for the im afraid of heights thing. x]
I just came back from seeing it...and I absolutely LOVED it. Definitely the best movie I've seen in my lifetime. If you didn't see it in 3D I HIGHLY recommend that you do.
Avatar is an amazing movie. I wasn't too keen on it at first; I'm not big on these kinds of movies, usually. But my grandmother wanted to see it on Christmas Day, so we all went to see it in the 3-D IMAX Theater, and it was nothing short of stunning. 10/10 stars on this one.
I wanna see it. But I think the people need to get over themselves when they say the movie was 'degrading' and 'shameful' when the aliens look like 'indians' and 'our soldiers getting killed'. It's just a movie. A movie I would like to see. But the people need to shutup about that stuff.
Like I say to my friends "I'm on the first flight out as soon as they find Pandora!" I wish it was a real place that I could experience for myself and to think that all of the CGI was made in my home country, New Zealand makes me so proud :)
I know it sounds sad but I feel like I'm homesick for Pandora O.o
Best movie in a long time for me, the story wasn't complex but I think that's good because a complex story with such complex CGI would have just been mind blowing and confusing for most. The simplicity of the plot sort of reflects the complex nature of everything else for me :)
"The only part that was uncomfortable for me was the worshiping of their god... I'm christian, and I felt guilty for watching such strong worship of another...."
-What the hell? You felt uncomfortable seeing others worship their god?
I saw it and LOVED it. The only part that was uncomfortable for me was the worshiping of their god... I'm christian, and I felt guilty for watching such strong worship of another....but the movie was GREAT!
