Crazy Little Thing Called Love

Let’s just say that we have this case scenario: there’s this sweet, funny and talented guy who you really like but you have no idea what you can do to make him notice you; you do your best to make yourself pretty, smart and up to his level as well however in the end you didn’t sweep him off his feet. In this case, you may find it very familiar to you and you might even have been in this situation as well. I couldn’t have explained it any other way to describe the plot in A Crazy Little Thing Called Love.

Being described as the “ugly duckling” when she was young, P’Nam tried her best not to let her dark skin, braces and short hair hinder her from making prince charming fall in love with her. There were numerous accounts wherein P’Nam had tried to make him notice her; when she auditions and wins the role of Snow White in her school play, became the Drum Role lead and made herself top one in her class. Sadly, these ended up in failure, disappointment and heartbreak.

I was more than proud to know that this movie was not an American movie but rather an Asian one. Taken in the setting of Thailand, you don’t need to have a translation to know what they say and what is happening because the actress who took the role of P’Nam had made me believe her and much more want to be like her as she struggles with school life, love and even family.

It’s a hands-down if I had to recommend this to anyone. I would recommend this to anyone not because I could relate to it (even though I definitely did) but because with such a cliché plot, they definitely set the bar high. This movie had made me cry, more than I could imagine doing because this truly touched my heart. What are you doing then? I urge you to watch this and dare you not to cry.
