Kamikaze Girls

Kamikaze Girls "Stop Spitting!"

Kamikaze Girls stars Kyoko Fukada and Anna Tsuchiya and is the touching movie based off of the cult-classic book from Japan.

Our story begins with our narrator, Momoko Ryugasaki, a girl obsessive when it comes to her Rococco style dresses and embroidery, taking a walk through her neighborhood. She tells about her father, an ex gangster from the city who sold knock-offs of Universal gear with his gang, but was found out to be a fraud a few years before.

Then, she tells of her mother, also a trouble maker of the past, who left her father for a doctor when she was a child. She tells of how she chose to live with her father full time, and how she also lives with her ex biker and ,somewhat senile, grandmother. As her walk to the train station progresses, along with her trip back, she continues to be absorbed in her own thoughts. That is, until she reaches home.

Waiting for her is none other than Ichigo Shirayuri, a "yankee" (or gang member) of the all girl's biker gang The Ponytails and the total opposite of Momoko. She comes looking for the Universal knock-offs, hearing that she sold what was left over of her father's old stash for money for more clothes. Momoko sells Ichigo the gear, and before they know it, Ichigo begins to come gradually every day, sometimes without even buying gear.

As the movie continues, the polar opposites begin to gradually become closer. Their relationship is described through touching flashbacks and even some cartoon work, and you begin to feel for the characters. When the two girls venture to find a mysterious designer in a far off city to embroider a thank you on Ichigo's biking coat, will they be able to help each other, even through the toughest times of their lives?

"Humans are cowards in the face of happiness. It takes courage to hold on to happiness."
