I hated this movie. Not because it was particularly bad, but because it wasted so much potential. It took this really interesting premise and instead of really taking the time to engage in the idea of all crime being legal for 12 hours once a year, it morphed into a cliché slasher film. It wasn’t scary, it wasn’t thrilling, there were no twists that I didn’t see coming and it would have been better off as just about anything but a ‘horror’ film. I was very disappointed.

One thing though, and I don’t think this is good, either- the creepy blond guy gave off this vibe that reminded me so much of Onision. They are just identical to me.

The Purge was pretty good. It wasn't scary good, but good nonetheless. It had plenty of unexpected jumpscares though, in my opinion.
I went to see it with my friend and her fiancé, and we were surprised at moments and laughed at moments too. People around us were screaming their heads off (these jocks behind us screamed like little girls, it was so hilarious XD )
I do think that the creators of this movie could have done so much more with it, but the fact that they at least did have some good jumpscares is enough for me :P

I thought The Purge was a huge disappointment. It wasn't scary at all, I'm questioning why it's even considered a horror movie since there was't even any scare attempts in it. It didn't even seem like a thriller. It didn't focus on the purge much at all, but rather focused more on the typical "family is trapped" situation with a basic plot. The plot was way too basic for the concept. The concept behind The Purge is brilliant, but the movie? It was disappointing. It could have a lot of potential, but the creators let it fall short of its true potential.

The movie was just one big let down.

If the purge was real, I'd probably go steal all the jerky I can find and totally steal a dog while I'm at it, ahaha. I really want a dog but don' have the money to buy a dog from anywhere. Sad

I personally cannot wait for this movie; I'm going to have to wait for it to come out on DVD to watch but nonetheless I'm extremely intrigued by the plot. I talk to my friends about what they would do if our government actually HAD something like this, and if our country would be in better shape if we did?
