I watched this show when it first came on and it was funny as hell but got what Huey was saying all the time, even if everyone around him both blacks and whites were acting stereotypical.

Though there could have been a slightly better way of getting messages across but I don't feel offended at all and I'm white. ._.

I love this show, so please don't hate on it or the comic, peoples.

This is also one of my favorite shows. I really didn't know what was going on in the show when I first started watching either(I was only 9) but I knew it was funny. Now that I'm 13, I can understand what the message is and have a good laugh.

I love the show and alot of the things they discuss are true. The black community needs to better itself. And im a black person who lives around alot of ignorant black people that make black people look bad. The show is just a show though and people shouldnt take it as more than that.

Well, the message wasn't really directed towards white people honestly and unless you live around a lot of black people (the kind I live around) the use of the N word isn't that big of a deal. You just don't understand everything about the show that all.

I don't watch this show, and have no plans to. It's offensive and while it may have a message it's hidden under the use of the n-word and swears. There is a better way to get a message across.

v You should make a forum for it. It would make for a hot debate and an intelligent conversation.

Look, we're talking about the show. Lets not get into forum mode people please? =)) If you like the shoe then good, if you don't then don't keep commenting on it. And Audrey T, everything is going to be okay. It's okay if she didn't see the comic but for most people it would be better if it would. No one ever said I was talking about the fact that she's never read the comic. I just like how she was positive about the whole thing and understood the message in the show. Yes, the show could be crass sometimes but it's there to show the craziness of some people. Do you understand? If you want to discuss it like this, I'll make a forum for it.

I am not oversensitive to the n-word for the fact I cringe when I hear any racial word. The c-word (for white people), the s-word (for Latinos), the c-c-word (for Asians) so obviously I am not oversensitive, I'm just not a racist.

I love this show. I think it's funny and enlightening at the same time but I don't let it control my thoughts and feelings. I still maintain my original feelings towards white people and black people, and this has not altered those feelings or thoughts in anyway. It's just a television show, it's there for your entertainment. I can see how it can be insulting to people though, but a lot of the times I feel some people are just over-sensitive to the n-word. I myself don't like hearing it, but I don't chew people out every time they say it.

v You're contradicting yourself. You say that you have to read the comic to watch the show, and yet you agree with Lonna who said that she watches the show but didn't read the comic. Obviously, through Lonna's testimony, it is very much possible to watch the show without reading the comic.

lonna lullaby, thank you for understanding. And Audrey T, it is. I've seen Aaron McGruder talk about his show plenty of times. Like lonna said, I don't think the message is that hard to get and although it might seem racist or whatever, sometimes that's how it is in life no matter how much you don't want it to be.

I watch the show, and I wasn’t aware of the comic strip, I figured it wasn't something I had to read first to get the show, but I did anyway. And I do agree that the message Huey is trying to get through to people about the black community is sometimes forgotten or lost. A lot of my white friends love this show, it's funny to them and I personally think this show just gives white people another reason to not take black people seriously as well as thinking they can say the N-word and get away with it.

The Boondocks doesn't bother me at all. I love the show and what's funny to me is the Freeman's are super rich, but they still act like "niggas" I guess you could say.

I agree, I've seen white people act like the ones who are portrayed in the show. There are some out there who really think like that of black people. My favorite episode would have to be on season two, when Huey talks about nigga moments and why black people shouldn't act like that.

v I don't think that's true - that if you haven't seen the comic you shouldn't watch the cartoon. I doubt that's either the creator or Cartoon Networks stand on it.

v Well you know, that's why it's on adult swim. And it might be a lot of cursing to you Love In The Movement but for other people it's not. The show can be insulting to you because maybe you haven't met people that are actually similar to the people in the show but I see them everyday. ',:) The is not for everyone and it makes awareness of the people that are actually like that and that's what people need to understand.
And if you don't know about the comic, then you shouldn't be watching the show. That's just my motto for this subject.

Although I will admit the show is a bit racist I don't think it's towards white people. One of the characters Uncle Ruckus I believe his name is practically worships white people. It does have a good message though I just don't think it's for kids

Light Eyed Dreamer and Love Is the Movement, that's actually one of the reasons I prefer the comic over the show. Because I do think it's often "too much."

I also think that's why the message of the show is often lost on viewers, because it's so often hidden by all the crudeness going on it, it would be hard for people who don't know the comic strip to find anything other than "LOL, black people," or "LOL, white people."

As a black person I think this show can be insulting. They use the n-word way too often which when the n-word is used often it is already a thumbs down for me and they use quite a lot of profanity. And as Light Eyed Dreamer said it is quite insulting to white people. Being a person who has friends of all races but especially white what would my friends think if I knew I watched a show that constantly offended them.
