Torchwood

Torchwood I hated sci-fi. Or, I hated sci-fi. Up until last year, when I got BBC America. I was never good with following the show, honestly. Sci-fi shows have a tendency to go all over the place, through the entire show, and then tie everything up so ends meet by the time the hour’s over. But I always got confused, and annoyed with them.

Once I got BBC, though, things changed. I heard about Doctor Who from a friend, and decided to give it a try. I fell in love with it. (And no, not just because David Tenant has brilliant taste in shoes.) Once I started watching that show, I decided to give Torchwood a try.

Again, I fell in love with it. Torchwood seemed – to me, a bit more realistic, and had a superb cast, that didn’t just center around one character the entire way through the season. There were side stories, and feeling, and emotion.

With John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper, Naoko Mori as Toshiko Sato, Burn Gorman as Owen Harper, and Garreth David-Lloyd as Ianto Jones, the cast really can’t get any better. They’re all wonderful actors, and make the show that much more believable.

Set in Cardiff, Torchwood is a secret team investigating various alien technology, and mysterious happenings all around. With love affairs between the entire Torchwood staff, some serious ass-kicking when it comes to finding aliens, and caustic humor, you really can’t get enough of this show. And you can watch it, Wednesdays, (UK only) at 9 pm. Or Saturdays (US only) at 9 pm.
