Rooftop Prince

Rooftop Prince is a South Korean drama which aired on the twenty first of March and ended on the twenty fourth of May in 2012.

The show is played through twenty hour long episodes and is filled to the brim with enough suspense, drama, comedy, and romance to keep anyone interested and seeking answers to a variety of questions.

Plot

Starting off in the Joseon time period, Crown Prince Lee Gak unexpectedly time travels to the future after his wife, Crown Princess Hwa-yong, mysterious dies.

After coming into the modern day era of Seoul, Lee Gak notices the familiarity of faces from his time period and the one he has suddenly appeared in. Realizing that his tie into the future is a way of revealing the Joseon mystery, he is intent on finding out who killed his wife and how the reincarnations of close allies about him are tied into the story itself.

Overall

This was the first Korean drama that I've watched and let me say, I couldn't get enough of it. The casting of characters were on point and the acting itself was beautifully done. Of course, one of the main reasons why I did choose this as my first was because of a few friends pushing me to watch this as well as the main role of Lee Gak being played by JYJ's Park Yoochun.

Being one to constantly be online and research the reviews and what not of shows and actings of artists of various K-Pop bands, I was a little iffy to see how Yoochun would develop as his character, Lee Gak. Well, I was surprised with the outcome.

He has a brilliant skill and talent and I couldn't get enough of the hour long episodes. I would have to constantly remind myself that homework was awaiting me or something more important than laying in bed and watching this drama unfold.

Lee Tae Sung and his acting in this was rather phenomenal. He took on his rightful role as a villian and with enough vengeful spirit within him, actually won my heart over in some episodes which continously made me wonder why exactly. I didn't expect my tie to him to come about since I normally started this drama looking closely at Yoochun rather than the other actors/actress's.

Normally, as I am now advancing in other drama's that have been recommended to me, I would never guess main characters would bother me as they are currently. Rooftop Prince never irked me for even a second. The characters are made up out of pure goodness or evil and dialogue and humor was made with, in my opinion, a hundred percent accuracy.

Even if you aren't a fan of Korean soaps or music, I would still push you to take a look into this wonderfully made drama.
