I Hear Your Voice

I Hear Your Voice (also known as I Can Hear Your Voice) is a South Korean drama that aired on SBS in the summer of 2013 from June 5th to August 1st with 18 episodes. The cast included Lee Jongsuk, Park Boyoung, Yoon Sanghyun, Lee Dahee and Jung Woongin.

Plot

Park Sooha is a nineteen year old boy who gains the ability to read other people's thoughts after witnessing his father's murder. Jang Hyesung testified in the trial and he swore to protect her from the killer. When he meets her again ten years later, she is now a jaded public defender along with Cha Kwanwoo, an innocent and dedicated lawyer who was previously a police officer. The three of them team up to solve various cases together, all while learning about society and justice as well as avoiding the killer who is out for revenge.

Overall

So this is the first drama I watched with an age gap this large, and honestly I was worried about if I would like it or not. In the end though, the chemistry between the leads was so good that I didn't even notice. Lee Jongsuk is such a talented actor that at this point I think he could act with just about anyone and I would enjoy it.

The drama itself was an emotional rollercoaster; one minute I was bawling and the next minute I was laughing like a hyena. Another thing I really enjoyed was the character development. All of the main characters make significant, yet natural changes throughout the drama. It made the story seem that much realistic (ignoring the supernatural element, of course).

All in all, I thought this drama was great. The two episode extension made the ending a bit drawn out, but it also allowed everything to be explained completely and properly. If you're looking for a drama that's a mix of a romantic comedy and a courtroom drama, I highly recommend this.
