Vera is a dark, sombre girl, very much the female version of Anton. Distant and cold, Vera appears to hate change even though she can see it coming. Rumours surround her and Anton’s relationship, most speculating that they are a couple.

Prohkor Ivanov

Father to Vera and a father-figure to most of the Gypsies, Prokhor is a dark, cheeky man. He was mysteriously thrown out of the carnival in his early twenties but controversially let back in by Mary, along with his troupe of performers. Intrigue surrounds his reason for leaving in the first place, and why he chose to come back rather than starting his own carnival in his home country of Romania.

A genuinely lovely person. Sweet, honest, loyal, and very beautiful. Was given giraffe neck when she was three, and miraculously survived the process. Born in Burma but sent to live in America at the age of six, where she started work at the carnival in the freak show. Since then pierced her face with three bridge piercings, a septum ring, six eyebrow rings and a labret.

Mary Prescott, mother of Peter and owner/boss of the carnival, is a no-nonsense, straight-forward kind of woman. A chain-smoker and a previous high-diver, Mary keeps her cards close to her chest, and while she appears hard-hearted and sharp, cares very much for her son.

Peter Prescott is a cheeky, mischievous cad. An infamous womaniser, he worms his way under the skin using taunts and teases. When in costume he is flamboyantly dressed and often over-the-top; a trait which carries into his day-to-day attitude as well. A notoriously bad morning person and most definitely a night-owl; Peter Prescott can also be quiet, sensitive and self-conscious.

Anton Volkov

A mysterious magician who, like many of the carnival folk, had a hard upbringing. Anton was brought up on the streets as Paris as a con-artist and thief before being taken in by Prokhor. Though his age is unknown precisely, it is estimated he is in his early twenties or last teens. To the gossip of the other carnies, he shares a caravan with Prokhor’s daughter, Vera, the physic. Anton is very intense – his flaws being his distance, coldness and sarcasm.
