Michiko Iwate was born and raised in Osaka, Japan, living with her elderly parents. Her mother was in her 40's and her father in his 50's, when she was born. By the time Michiko was a junior in high school, her mother had died of lung cancer, and her father of hear failure. Shortly after graduating high school she started college, majoring in journalism, where she met Ichiro Uzawa. After a short relationship, they were married, there for Michiko's last name was changed to Uzawa. After a year, Ichiro is accused of a triple homicide, and forced to stay in jail until the case is decided, due to their lack of money. Michiko is soon after contacted by the mysterious L.
