Gerard is a 26-year-old aspiring cartoonist who just can't seem to find a lucky break. His cartoons never seem to be exactly what someone needs. They're always a little off. You can imagine how depressing that is to him, so he must take lots of prescriptions in order to be one hundred percent Gerard. These affect his social and family life something terrible, so he's basically a hermit living in his rather unique apartment.

Frank is a 22-year-old living at home with his parents. He never went to college, and up until his dad made him start a non-paying internship, had only one job. (He lasted three hours before quitting.) Frank has a really hard time standing up to anyone, including his dad and girlfriends, so he's not exactly ecstatic about his home-life and relationship status. (crappy, and single.)
