Gloria is a runaway. She wants to be remembered, but she also doesn't, thus forcing her to take on the term "whatsername" as a pen name of sorts. The City is her home away from home, wherever home for her really is, and she likes to move around. Jimmy was just one of those one night stands she usually had, but then she grew attached, and maybe started liking him more than she let on.
