Miseria's mother. Ever since she began dating Burke two years back, she has paid less and less attention to her daughter. She has allowed Burke to turn her back into an alcoholic, something Miseria's deceased father had brought her out of when they got married. She doesn't believe Miseria every time she tries to tell her she's depressed, in Charlene's mind, Miseria is just using it as an excuse not to go to school. All Charlene cares about is getting Miseria's board money.

Charlene's boyfriend. He got her hooked on drinking once again, despite Charlene's deceased husband pulling her out of her alcoholism when they were married. Burke is abusive towards Charlene though she denies it till she's (almost literally) black and blue in the face. Burke hates Miseria with a burning passion, and wants her out of Charlene's house as to him, she is "Just a nuisence" and has threatened her on numerous occasions. Though each time Miseria protests about it, Charlene just says she "Can't handle authority"

Miseria's father. He was a chain smoker and died from Emphysema when she was 15. Prior to his death, Miseria's life had been a whole lot brighter. Charlene actually cared about her, and Miseria and Vladimir were practically best friends. He'd always listened whenever she had a problem, and always encouraged Miseria to follow her dreams of being a singer. Vladimir himself had been a musician, in his younger days he had always played guitar and sung for Miseria and Charlene. As he grew older he didn't play as often, though instead pursued a career in musical engineering. He gave Miseria her first guitar, however refused to pay for her to get vocal training, as he believed she had an amazing and unique voice on her own and feared that vocal training would take it away.
