Lorenzo's beloved "boy child". He has a rebellious streak from here to the moon (and back) and has a habit of failing to do as he is told. He longs for acknowledgement and recognition from all, not merely Lorenzo. He could not be more different to the ancient vampire. Lorcan is Irish by birth, but changes his accent to the local accent of wherever he happens to be.

Lorenzo is an eight hundred plus year old vampire at the beginning of this tale. He was born a vampire, to both a vampire Father and a vampire Mother (who had both died prior to the story beginning) and is thus what is known as a "pure-blood" vampire. He is from Rome and speaks with a heavy Italian accent. A very calm, careful man, he feeds when he has to and does not indulge. He enjoys gentle pursuits and prior to meeting Lorcan, had never considered creating a fledgling.
