In this story, L goes by many names, including Ryuzaki, Hideki, and even poses as Matsuda. Eccentric in all ways possible, his love of sweets is only surpassed by his love for a mysterious figure, which we learn the identity of in later chapters. As the world's best detective, he takes it upon himself to find this killer known to the public as "Kira," and he won't rest until Kira is put to death.

A bubbly, charismatic individual, Misa's codependency issues leave her and Light attached at the hip. She dresses very....interestingly, and soon realizes her emotional attachments are not shown just towards men, but a certain woman as well--which does not please L in the least bit.
