Tinny has Diabulimia, where, as a Type 1 Diabetic, she uses her insulin to control her weight gain. Her parents sent her off when they realized this problem, and are almost completely non-supporting. The only person she thinks might is her little sister, Rachel. Rachel keeps her going, as well as her love of music. Tinny frequently writes song lyrics on her arms or hands. She's kind of antisocial, but if she's provoked she'll put up a fight.

All his life, he was surrounded by his older brothers who excelled in sports and so it was always expected for him to join sports as well. He eventually did in the form of wrestling. Due to issues that arose in wrestling, he eventually started to eat and later throw up in part so he could get to a lower weight class where he stood a better chance. Once he started the habit however, he became addicted to it to the point where he was doing it simply for the high of doing it and getting away with it until he got caught during an away match by one of the other team's coachs.
