Eleanor is a unique person. She's prickly and sarcastic and highly independent, stemming from her lack of a social life through her middle/high school life. Eleanor refuses to be called by her first name and goes by "Eli" and is extremely passionate about hockey, loving her hometown team, The Chicago Blackhawks. Hoping to report for them one day after overcoming the fears of public speaking, Eleanor is highly disappointed when her hated team, the Flyer's, hire her instead. A life in Philly becomes hectic for Eli, especially with her unlikely friendship with Claude Giroux that formed through bickering and insults.

Cara moved to Chicago from Pittsburgh in middle school and saved Eleanor from a world of bleak friendships, the girls bonding instantly over their love of hockey. Cara is a hyper girl who can ramble a million words a minute and has vast, highly imaginative, nearly unattainable dreams. Her dream of reporting for the Pittsburgh Penguins came true though! Her next goal? Snagging a date with Sidney Crosby. Cara has stood by Eli for years and still does and helped shape Eli into the woman she is today

Giroux is a forward for the Philadelphia Flyers and enjoys it a lot, loves being with the team he was drafted into but the highlight for him this year is the lovely little reporter he meets, Eleanor Anderson. Giroux finds her independent fiery personality funny to watch and likes to rile her up, just for the joy in getting a reaction out of her, developing a close friendship with her despite their bickering.
