Ali just recently started her Senior year of high school. Her boyfriend, Josh, also recently was involved in a fatal car accident and she cannot stop thinking of the fact that he's really gone. Other than being extremely upset over her boyfriend's death, Ali is well known to be very sweet, generous, and considerate to the people she cares for. Ali is someone that if you're nice to her, she'll be nice back. The one person that she can't seem to get along with, however, is Cameron Reeves: her dead boyfriend's best friend.

Cam is popular, conceited, and flirtatious; those are three of the things that people first realize when they first meet him. However, once you take the time to get to know him, you also realize that he is funny, sweet (when he wants to be), and has a soft side to him even though he rarely shows it. He is also known for flirting and eventually asking out almost every girl he meets. However, Ali Pearson is the only girl he's never flirted with, nor does he plan to. It's obvious to most people that Ali and Cam don't get along for unknown reasons.

Christie is beautiful and one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. She is the envy of almost every girl and almost every guy's dream girl. She's known for being a member of the dance team and the ex-girlfriend of Cam Reeves. The reasons as to why they broke up are unknown. Christie has been extremely sympathetic towards Ali after hearing about Josh's death.

Jenny is Ali's best friend and currently has a crush on Cam Reeves, which aggravates Ali. Jenny is very outgoing and sarcastic, the complete opposite of Ali. Jenny is a strong believer in doing what you want and not letting anyone stop you. Jenny tends to not worry about small things and just lives life to the fullest. She plans to have Cam ask her out this year, despite Ali's warnings about him and his reputation of breaking hearts.
