Spencer Reid is highly intelligent, with an IQ of one hundred eighty-seven and an eidetic memory; simply put, he is a genius. Spencer was a victim of severe bullying in school, seeing as he graduated from high school when he was only twelve-years-old. Spencer still has nightmares from the time he was kidnapped by Tobias Hankel, a man with split personalities. Spencer struggled with a drug addiction after the kidnapping, but has since then overcome it. Derek usually refers to him as "pretty boy" and most other members of the BAU team call him "kid." He hates the fact that he's the baby of the group, and everyone treats him as such. He attempts to make up for being so young and vulnerable with his quick wit.
