Dalton is a mystery. He is extremely intelligent, as well as very shady. He gives off a creepy, intimidating aura, but he's not mean to anyone. Dalton doesn't think highly of himself, but he doesn't struggle with the same existential angst Scarlett does. He cares a lot (possibly too much) for those close to him, he has a very dark, twisted sense of humour, and he is a deep thinker and very poetic.

A good friend of Scarlett's, Alex is a bit more "normal" of a person than most people she comes across. The two share common interests and intelligence, but Alex lacks the creepiness (or, at least, appreciation of creepiness) associated with Scarlett and Dalton.
