She doesn’t let people tell her no, and she is a tough girl. However, she is a straight A student, and is clearly going somewhere in life. She sets the bar high for herself, and doesn’t let herself fall short. She is in all advanced courses and is set to graduate with a 4.0 cumulative GPA.

Lila is a social butterfly. Although she has her own problems, Lila feels a lot of guilt that she doesn’t have as hard a time with life as her older brother. She feels bad that he has to look out for her, and that she has an easier time making friends and doing well in school. Generally, she feels a lot of pain from her father’s abandonment and her mom’s inability to be there for her.

Lucy is the mother of Luke and Lila Hudson. She was fifteen when she gave birth to her son and eighteen when she had her daughter. Lucy endured years of an abusive marriage to the kid's father, John, and finally got a divorce. Because of her early motherhood and the physical and mental abuse she suffered, she never finished school, and therefore cannot find a solid and stable job. She gave her parents custody of her kids when they were fourteen and eleven. She is sweet, kind, caring, softspoken, and loving, and suffers from depression and suicidal thoughts.

Jack is Allie's seven-year-old brother. He isn't the most athletic- or coordinated for that matter- and is a homebody. He has trouble making friends, so he mostly hangs out with Allie and Luke. He is quiet, reserved, yet all boy. He likes making mud-pies and playing with bugs.
