A nineteen year old girl who, due to a fatal car accident, lost her arm. She used to be best friends with Boston Bruins player Adam McQuaid and he calls her his "little sister" on a daily basis. She struggles to get over the loss of her new arm and how people react to it. Not bearing to live with people who constantly rag on her about her lost limb, she moves to Boston to stay with Adam while she goes to Boston University. There, she meets Tyler Seguin and learns to hate him when she finds out he is just like everyone else; cruel and mean. Avery is in a relationship with long time BF Brad, but that starts to go downhill as she moves away.

Throughout the story he has to deal with younger sister being pregnant and the after math of the child being his best friend's kid.

Leah has been dating hockey star Adam McQuaid for a long time and in this story she finds out that she is pregnant with his child...after she informs him that she is never able to have children. After a bad reaction from Adam, she breaks up with him, only to fond out that he was drunk. She works at Children's Hospital in Boston and she has a bad first meet with Avery, thinking that she was Adam's rebound when she breaks up with her.

Plays for the Boston Bruins. His girlfriend is pregnant with his child and he displays a bad reaction when he finds out, forcing her to break up with him. He doesn't remember the break up because he was drunk. His old friend Avery comes to stay with him and he is forced to try to get her back to her old self after her life-threatening accident. He later admits that he wants to be a father and have Leah be the mother. He also states early in the story that he had been planning on proposing to Leah before she broke up with him.
