Adaleen Figgs has to do what she can to survive in District 12, like most who live there. Orphaned at the age of twelve after her father died in the mine explosion, she has no one and nothing left. Her name is entered thirteen times and hopes her name isn't called during the reaping.

Peeta Mellark doesn't have it as rough as Gale, Katniss, and Adaleen in District 12. Fortunate enough to be the baker's son, he never had to take out tessera and only has his name entered five times. Despite this he still worries that he or someone he knows will be chosen as a tribute.
