Iris is a spunky 17 year old from Winnipeg, Manitoba who loves anything to do with guitars, teddy bears, books and her favourite bands. She loves to dance around her room and swear. She only has one best friend, and four other friends. She is usually really happy and hyper, but she can turn very violent and doesn't think straight when she's angry, like most people. That's how she met her friend Kora-Lee. She got really mad when she saw her smoking a cigarette in the girl's washroom and when she asked her to put it out and she didn't, Iris wrestled her to the ground and got the cigarette, throwing it into a toilet. She didn't tell anyone why it bothered her so much, even she didn't know why, but she guessed it was because she had a crush on Kora-Lee. When she goes to meet Escape The Fate with Ashlynne, she's allowed to bring one friend, so she brings her friend Tyler.

Ashlynne can be the sweetest girl you've ever met, or she can be the bitchiest girl you've ever met. She says that it honestly depends on your attitude towards her. She's been friends with Iris since 8th grade, and she is proud to say she is Iris' only best friend. She will protect her friends to the death, and if you try to get in her way she will try to rip out your eyes, and beat you to death. When Ashlynne first met Iris' friend Victoria she had a crush on her. Now they're going out. It was official since 10th grade.

Victoria is the shiest one out of the group of friends. You'd think she isn't capible of lashing out and starting an all out war against someone, but she is. Even though she is the shiest, she can still pack a mean punch. She will also curse you out if you hurt one of her friends, or her girlfriend. Victoria found out she was a lesbian when she kissed her first boyfriend in 8th grade. Even in the beginning of their relationship she said it hadn't felt right. She had a crush on Ashlynne towards the end of 9th grade, and the summer of 9th grade she asked Ashlynne out. Her nickname is VC because of her initials.

Briianna prefers to be called Brii because she doesn't like Briianna. The reason she doesn't like her name is because that's what her mother named her. Her mother died of drug overdose and alcohol poisoning, leaving her with her father. Her father wanted to name her Kiara, but her mother wouldn't have it, and threatened to cut off his connection with his daughter if she wasn't named Briianna. Brii and her dad get along very well. She met Iris in 6th grade when she transferred into her class because she kept getting into fights with her classmates. Brii is the kind of girl that looks innocent, but will not hesitate to put you in the hospital if you insult her or her friends.

Kora-Lee was held back a year because she had been suspended for two months because she swore at the principal, kicked him in the balls then punched him in the face. This is the only reason that she was held back. Kora-Lee is very smart, and can figure out almost any math equation on the spot. She met Iris in the washrooms, where Iris had told her to stop smoking on school property, then when Kora-Lee didn't, Iris wrestled her to the ground to get the cigarette out of Kora-Lee's hand. Kora-Lee immediately gave her respect for that and they've been friends since then. She wasn't as easily accepted into Iris' group of friends as she should have been, but they eventually warmed up to her towards the end of grade 11. They all go onto grade 12 next year.

Tyler is a loud, obnoxious guy who wouldn't hurt a fly, even if he was provoked. He would talk to one of the girls in his circle of friends who would do it for him. A lot of people judge him by how he looks, and how he acts (surprise, surprise,) and a lot of people think he's some jerk who doesn't care about anyone but himself and will beat you shitless if you offend him. The worst he'd do personally if you offended him, was throw weak insults back. Tyler has a history of cutting in the past, but his now boyfriend Garett showed him that he didn't need to. Iris and Ashlynne always tease them slightly about them going out, because of Tyler's last name being Garett's first name, just spelled differently. Unlike anyone else in the group, Tyler has a tattoo of a flaming heart with a fire-breathing dragon wrapped around it. Under it, it says, "Protected" Tyler also smokes, even though everyone else disapproves. He uses the excuse 'but quitting is really hard'

Garett is a wild guy who really isn't all that sensitive. He will give you his honest opinion, no matter how harsh it is. He doesn't give a flying *** if you like him, and if you do, he'll befriend you quickly. Garett is dating Tyler, and they get teased slightly by Iris and Ashlynne because Garett's first name is Tyler's last name, just spelled differently. Garett helped Tyler stop cutting and Tyler has told him many times that if Garett ever disappeared from his life, he would cease to exist. Garett told Tyler that he would never leave, ever. No matter what was wrong with his life. Garett met Tyler in the boy's washroom. Garett had heard someone crying in one of the stalls, and had asked him to come out, when Tyler had shouted back 'No! Go away!' Garett broke the door down and saw Tyler cutting himself. He quickly took the razor out of Tyler's hands and put it in his back pocket, hugging Tyler, cursing his name and telling him that he didn't need that.

Thomas "TJ" Bell

TJ is the bassist for Escape The Fate. He really likes Iris, even though he knows he shouldn’t. He hates the fact that she doesn’t trust him and constantly tries to avoid him. A couple of times, he has heard Iris talking about him with Monte and many of those times he has felt jealous. He takes slight happiness in the fact that he isn’t the only one Iris doesn’t trust.

Craig is the lead singer of Escape The Fate. He has a daughter named Leila. He doesn’t get along very well with his sister, Ariella but secretly wishes he could. When he meets Iris he doesn’t remember her at first. He overhears her conversation with TJ and immediately recognizes her.

Robert is the drummer for Escape The Fate. He likes teasing Craig’s and Monte’s sisters. He knows that Craig’s little sister doesn’t like him at all, and he secretly tells Craig that he thinks she doesn’t like anyone at all.
