All her life, Michelle Reid relied on her father for everything, since her mother left them and moved to France when she was young. Her father taught her everything - but most importantly that she was the most important person in her life,and how to look out for herself. He taught her how to fight, how tend and how to survive. When he died in a car crash when she was a teenager, Michelle dropped out of school, and finally understood what he meant. She moved in with her best friend Danielle, got a job, and made a living for herself selling guitars - her favourite thing in the world. Michelle is a very sophisticated girl, very mature for her age. She can be selfish, and even a bitch if she has to be, but she cares deeply for others, and often sees it as her duty to protect. She can easily change her mindset depending on the situation, which often causes problems for her as she gets mixed up and confused about feelings. She is very outward, says what she feels, and although she doesn't like to be the centre of attention, she likes to know her company. Michelle is from Glasgow, Scotland. She is "played" by Scottish actress Karen Gillan.

Danielle Wilson is from Glasgow, Scotland. Unlike her best friend Michelle, Danielle is very family oriented, and she seeks most of her comfort and security from both her parents, though they are seperated. When the world comes to a standstill, Danielle's first and only motive is to head to Alaska, where she thinks her mother will be. Danielle is quite introverted, and prefers to take a backseat on most of the action, but is very caring and loyal. Michelle always told her she would make a good mother, because if she cares for someone, she'll put everything on hold before they are taken care of. Danielle is "played" by English actress Rachel Hurd-Wood.
