She became a Hunter at the age of fourteen when her mother was possessed and killed by a demon on one of her father's rare trips home. Her father, a hunter, raised her on the road and trained her to hunt and defend herself against the evil of the world. Her father died in a run in with a banshee and she headed back home to New Jersey a few years later. She knew Bobby through her father and he helped her through a lot of her own hunts and that is how she found the Winchesters.
