Your character in the story. Your friends call you "Lana" for short. You have soft black hair that falls just past your shoulder blades and gorgeous bright blue eyes that stand out when surrounded by your thick black eyeliner. Both of your ears are pierced twice and your nose is pierced on the left side. Your mother and sister died in a car crash not even a year ago and you have a tattoo of your mom as angel on your left shoulder and one of your sister as an angel on your right shoulder. You love the dark and aren't exactly a friend of the sun, (or any form of light for that matter), and for this reason you are very pale. You've been called a lot of things: freak, loser, bitch..... the list goes on. You HATE labels but you won't say you're not something you are. Based on the categories society throws you and your friends into you're a punk, you're a goth, and you're Emo. You don't care what people call you. The way you look at it is this: If the clothes and makeup you wear, the way you look, makes you goth, so be it. If the way you feel inside, things you don't even fully understand yourself, makes you Emo, you're Emo. And if the music that is your medicine and eases your pain makes you a punk, then that's what you are. Labels are nothing but meaningless terms designed to make you feel worthless so other people can feel better about themselves. Let them talk about you. Let them make you the center of their universe. You just don't care anymore.

Autumn and Ravens mom. She reminds you of your mom so much it scares you sometimes. Not so much in physical appearance but in personality and style. She's skinny, and has shoulder length, dark brown hair that has a more visible red tint than her daughters. Her left ear is pierced 3 times and her right is pierced 5. She has the same brown eyes her daughters have. It's not hard to tell they are related. Avril is a punk rocker like your mom was. She's so much fun to be around and loves all the punk / metal bands you and your friends do. Once in a while she surprises you with tickets to one of your favorite bands concerts. Usually 6. One for her, Raven, Autumn, You, and two of your other friends. After your mom died she basically considered you one of her daughters. The only difference was you didn't live with her.

Autumns little sister and also one of your best friends. She's 16, 6 months younger than you, so you can't help but think of her as a little sister too. She has shoulder length black hair that has a red tint in certain light and both of her ears are pierced 5 times. When you're upset you can always count on her to make you laugh until you can't breathe. Like Brooke and Autumn, she's been to a lot of concerts with you, your mom, your sis, and whoever else happened to come.

Your best friend since 7th grade, although you consider her more of a big sister. She's 18 years old, has long black hair that shines in almost any light and dark brown eyes. She's pale, like you and wears thick black eyeliner (along with all the other makeup worn by a typical goth) all the time..... like you. She's been to a lot of concerts with you. She knows you well enough to know when somethings wrong. She's not psychic but sometimes she makes you wonder. She has a habit of guessing exactly what is wrong with you at any given point in the day and it kinda creeped you out at first but you're used to it now.

Your best friend since kindergarten. She's average height, and skinny like you. She has dark, brown hair that always seems to shine. She dresses punk and loves all the bands you love. She's a hardcore vegetarian and animal lover. She has been to most of the concerts your sister and mom took you (and "the guys" ) to. Every one of your friends was in love with your mom and sis. It hit them almost as hard as it hit you when they found out.

Your sister. Your BEST friend. She was actually your half sister (your mothers child from another marriage) but you never thought of her as half. She was your sister. Plain and simple and you always corrected people who called her your "half" sister. She had long, dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. Both of her ears were pierced. She pierced your ears for the first time when you were 10. She was your confidant. You could tell her ANYTHING and she understood. The three of you, (your sister, your mom, and you) NEVER fought. Not once that you can ever remember. You did so much together. Concerts, piercings, movies.... everything. You missed them both more than anyone would ever know. Your sister was only 25 years old when she died. Frank also gave you a tattoo of her as an angel on your right shoulder.

Your real mother. To describe her would be like describing an angel. You could never do her beauty justice. She had dark brown hair that fell to a few inches above her shoulder blades. It was always so soft and shiny and you loved the smell of it. Your sister said that even as a baby the smell of Moms hair had a comforting effect on you. Your mother had dark brown eyes that seemed to light up an entire room and when you were upset she didn't even have to say anything. She just looked at you and you knew that everything was going to be ok. She was, without a doubt, the coolest mom you could ever dream of. She was into all the music you and your friends were into and always had AWESOME tickets to all the best concerts. She would take you, your sister, and your friends out to eat then you'd go to a concert and have the time of your life. Your friends made it a point to take you to concerts when they could, and you loved it, but it just wasn't the same without your mom and sister. She was 41 years old when she died. After she died Frank gave you a beautiful tattoo of her as an angel on your left shoulder.

Your step-mother. The slut your father cheated on your mother with. She has long, blond, wavy hair, Dark blue eyes, and both of her ears are pierced once. She's 35 years old. She has a bad habit of thinking she's your mother and you're thinkin'...it's gotta stop. She tries to be nice to you because she wants you to like her. When you and your dad are fighting, she takes your side as much as she can without making your dad mad. You know she wants to replace your mother, but that will NEVER happen. No one could EVER replace your mother.

Your father. He's 51 years old, but looks younger. He's got plenty of muscle and an intimidating presence. He has short black hair and brown eyes. You have NEVER gotten along with your father. You hate him because you know what he did to your mother. He would berate her all the time and he cheated on her constantly with this stupid little blond haired tramp who was 16 years younger than him, and somehow it doesn't surprise you that she's now your new mother.... a replacement.... or so she thinks. Your mother and sister were all that kept things under control between you and him. Now that they were gone, being in the same room with him was total chaotic hell. You were almost never home and when you were you were locked in your bedroom. As far back as you can remember your father has always been a bitter, mean, controlling asshole. You don't recall ever loving him........... not ever. And you doubt that, even as a little girl, you could love anything as evil as that man.

He acts all tough around people but you know him better than that. Underneath his gruff exterior, he's a big teddy bear. You call him dad all the time and every time you do he has a sarcastic comment about you. He's only joking and you know it. You know that inside he feels the same as Avril and he considers you one of his daughters.
