Alright, so this is the main character of Automatic. She's seventeen years old, at start of our story. She goes by Manda, Mandy, Amy, and Aim mostly; but people very close to her call her Manda Banana. Her father died when she was four years old and her step-dad came into her life when she was seven; as soon as her mother remarried, her step-dad pretty much lashed out at Amanda and her brother at any chance he got. She is soft spoken and shy since she's been abused most of her life, but she does lover to talk to people once she's comfortable around them. She is compassionate and kind, stopping at nothing to help the ones she cares about. She doesn't have a very good view of herself, but she's relatively comfortable. She is awkward and clumsy, stuttering when she's nervous. Her big brother Skye is her hero and she loves him more than anything in the world; she thinks of him as her guardian angel for taking such good care of her and being her best friend all her life. She would do anything for him.

Skyler is Amanda's big brother, her hero. He's twenty years old and goes by Skye, unless he's in trouble. He was six when his dad died, and he started taking care of Amanda when their mom seemed to lose touch with reality. He took care of his sister and was there for her more than anyone else. When their mom remarried and the Sanders kids started getting abused, he tried to provoke their step-dad more so that maybe Amanda wouldn't get it so bad. He started to dye his hair and got piercings, not only because he wanted them, but because they drew more of his step-dad's fury away from Amanda. He is extremely protective of his little sister and he would do anything for her; she's the most important part of his life. He's a confident, outgoing person and he will speak his mind. He's not afraid of hearing the truth or telling it and he doesn't care what anyone thinks of him. He is kind and caring until you get on his bad side; unless you're there for hurting Amanda somehow, he'll most likely just ignore you.

Skye and Amanda's mom. She met their father in their sophomore year of high school and they were together from their junior year up until he died. They were high school sweethearts, and they made the happiest family you'd ever seen. She loved her family more than anything in the world and would die for them. But, one night, she got a phone call... Her husband had gotten into a car accident, died at the scene. She was never the same after that. She was like an empty shell. A spark of her came back when she met Shawn, but she wasn't even a shadow of her old self. She feels nothing but emptiness.

The dreaded and hated step-dad. When he married Melody, he was a little annoyed with the fact she wouldn't take his name and decided to keep her dead husband's last name instead. Meeting him on the street, he seems like a devoted and determined person, only wanting the best for him and his family. He's a hard worker and a loyal friend, someone who strives for success and speaks his mind. However, behind closed doors at home, he's a completely different person. He has a short temper and relies on violence for almost everything. He's never laid a hand on Melody, but her kids? His favorite punching bags, particularly the youngest Sanders, Amanda. He's a hot head and a bully and he will not be wrong, regardless of anything.

Aubrey was born in Germany, his teenage parents living in a bad situation after their parents kicked them out for being so careless. They hated Aubrey saying he ruined their life and they'd never wanted a kid, so he grew up abused. He lived like this until he was four years old when his aunt and uncle gained custody of him and moved to America. There, he met Skye and the two quickly became friends. They've been best friends and he has become just like another brother to Amanda as they confided their problems with their step-dad to him. He is his neurologist aunt's nurse, working hard through med school until he can become a pediatrician since he loves kids.
