Dante is the second son of the demon Sparda and the human Eva, and the younger twin brother of Vergil. Dante is a paranormal mercenary, private investigator, and vigilante Devil Hunter dedicated to exterminating evil demons and other malevolent supernatural forces; a mission he follows in pursuit of those that killed his mother and corrupted his brother. He is also the owner of Devil May Cry. After his battle in the Demon World, he made his way back to the human world. He give some days off for a simple vacation. One day, he gotten a call from the manger of Sisters of Fate about a paranormal recent attack. Once again Dante is called to the job.

Vergil is the eldest of the twin sons of Sparda and Eva. Unlike Dante, his younger brother, he embraces his demonic heritage, while despising his human one. His personality is the polar opposite of Dante's; whereas Dante is hot-headed and sarcastic, Vergil is calm and calculating. He has a lust for power and is willing to disregard anything to obtain the power of his father, Sparda. He uses Yamato, a keepsake from his father, and possesses a sense of style that rivals Dante's. As Nelo Angelo, Vergil lacks speech. He is also pained when forced to remember Dante and their family. An example would be when he glimpses Dante's half of the Perfect Amulet, seemingly indicating that he is possessed by Mundus to some degree. After his death by his younger twin brother, Dante. He was brought back to life just by a fragment of his memory trace and a piece of his Nelo Angelo armor.

Trish

Trish is a mysterious woman who looks strangely like Dante's mother, Eva. As a puppet of Mundus, Trish was originally cruel and uncaring, but after Dante saved her, she began to develop emotions towards him, and eventually sacrificed herself to save him from Mundus's attack. After being revived, Trish joined Dante at his shop, and showed excitement at being his partner. In time, she has gone off on her own, and seems to enjoy playfully picking on Dante and giving him trouble, and although she rejoins him later on, she has basically the same habits.

Lady (birth name "Mary") is a human demon hunter. Her original name, Mary, was given to her by her father Arkham, but she chose to renounce that name when her father ***ed her mother. Dante first called her "lady" when she refused to tell him her name. Like her father, she has the genetic condition heterochromia, which render each of her eyes a different color, as a result her left eye is red and her right eye is bluish-green. In her latest appearance, she wears sunglasses to conceal her eyes. Lady is very fierce, rough, and tough enough to keep up with Dante. Although, when she kills her father, Lady breaks down and tears, showing a more sentimental side. She also appears to have a bit of a crush on Dante, as she appears to show a softer side when around him and she gets a little jealous when she learns that Dante is good friends with Trish. She originally hates all demons, even half-demons, however over time she learns that humans and demons are equals in their capacity for both righteousness and destruction.
