Patrick Stump is a senior, playing miscellaneous music around Chicago, and spends every waking moment making music in his parents' basement. Unlike the bold child he once was, Patrick is timid, non-confrontational, and otherwise overly cautious. These traits frustrate his friends to no end, but he's simply too lovable to not be friends with. Despite his sensitivities, he can be impulsive on the odd occasion when passion takes over...although he usually regrets these things when his common sense ultimately takes over again.

Charlotte Scott is another senior, although it is her first year at this particular high school. Is working toward a career as a wildlife biologist, as she dearly loves animals and anything to do with nature. The city makes her feel cooped up and artificial after awhile, so she often drives up to an old cabin in Michigan that her dad still owns, even though he never uses it. Having been known as incredibly shy as a child, her childhood friend is surprised to find that she has becoming an outgoing, bubbly, and social teen.
