  • Nikolai Aksakov

    Nikolai Aksakov

    Gender:
    Male
    Age:
    16
    Orientation:
    Homosexual

The main character of There's Catastrophe in Everything I'm Touching. He was born in a tiny town in Siberia, and moved to America a few years after. Although he grew up in America, his immediate family (mom, dad, and older sister Xenia) tried as hard as it could to keep alive the culture and traditions of their motherland. His father's job took him from place to place, allowing only a couple months at each location the family settled. Nikolai, with nicknames Nick, Nicky, Oli, N, and Nikita, had only gone to public school twice, for only 6 months apiece. He grew to view his elder sister (7 years his senior) as his best friend and second mother. When he was 12, Nicky was drafted into a modeling gig and took such a liking to the idea that he asked his father to be allowed a career in the field. With Xenia as his guardian, the two set off alone to follow jobs and appearances for Nicky. Although the model lifestyle was fantastic and he loved it dearly, the motel living and general attitude of the industry took its toll. He began to heavily depend on alcohol, and used various drugs frequently. He was smart enough to never hit anything experimental or too hard, though. After turning 15, Nikolai began experimenting with other men, and very quickly learned the depths of his kinks. At 16, he'd already mastered the craft of getting older men to act out his dark desires in bed without his sister even knowing. Nikolai is generally sarcastic, easy going, and cynical. Having been an in-and-out kind of kid, he learned to make friends quickly and honed impeccable social skills. He has green-to-hazel eyes, a paled-but-easily-tanned complexion, and chocolate brown hair. Nicky has dabbled in androgynous and drag modeling jobs, but nothing that was ever made public or official.

  • Samael, the Angel of Death and Venom of God.

Samael, the Angel of Death and Venom of God.

    Gender:
    Male

Spoilers Ahead>>>>Samael is the demon who collects the soul from man. He is the essence and origin of death in all dimensions. His true form's height was so great, it would have taken five hundred years to cover a distance equal to it, and from the crown of his head to the soles of his feet he was studded with glaring eyes, at the sight of which the beholder fell prostrate in awe. In canon, he is an archangel, but for the sake of my story he is assumed to have fallen and been encased in a room of stone and gems. The various precious stones and gems studded throughout his prison symbolize the shining eyes his true form is covered in. The form presented to Nikolai upon their meetings is a tall, imposing man with chiseled features and golden, waved hair. Samael's humanoid form has brilliant chartreuse eyes unparalleled by even the brightest of gemstones. His skin is silver and glimmers faintly in the candle light of his prison. While his powers, presence, and intentions are a mystery to Nicky, the young boy comes to find that the fallen archangel is imprisoned in a room somehow tied to his own existence. Nikolai is Samael's foretold vessel, and as such his apparent "only chance" at the Midworld--the realm of humans. Nikolai sells his soul to the archangel to save him from a fire that burned down his Gran's house near Olympia, Washington, USA. Being possessed by the demon is a terrible strain on Nikolai's being, and, as any vessel, he develops "cracks" through which Under energy, power from Hades, escapes him. He can learn to utilize this energy for his own benefit, which so far includes creating a barrier around his mind, and a buzzing that warns him of dangers. When the energy escapes in overwhelming quantities, Nikolai is deafened by the buzzing and becomes nauseous and fatigued. If the required outlet is not reached, he will faint and slowly splinter. Samael tells Nikolai only what the fallen man wishes for him to know, which is often confusing bits and pieces. The former archangel speaks to Nikolai in the boy's dreams, where his unconscious state allows the connection between his being and Samael's prison to be especially strong. Sometimes, however, the imprisoned immortal disappears for weeks at a time. The longer Nikolai goes without Samael, the more dormant his powers become. Nikolai has no idea what to expect from his possessed situation at any time, and has chosen to simply go with the flow.

  • James

    James

    Gender:
    Male

Spoilers ahead>>>>>>James is the assistant to Nikolai's mysterious uncle, and acts as caretaker and guardian for the young man. Nicky is unsure of what his actual role, age, and history are, and fears asking anything of the man. Although their relationship had been cordial initially, it soon degenerated into a strong-armed and fearful situation. Nikolai is terrified of the stoic man who always wears a business suit and seems to want to lock the teen into his room forever. He and his "boss", Nicky's uncle, had moved into a manor outside of Forks just as Nikolai began dominating news coverage. Everyone had assumed the sprawling grounds and massive, castle-like structure were long-since abandoned, and rumors spread through Forks like wildfire. No one ever really saw the mysterious and nameless uncle, only the tall and well-built assistant. James lost his patience with Nikolai very early in their relationship, and now would enjoy nothing more than to lock him away and feed him through a doggy door. He is aggressive, violent, and controlling. A very organized individual, he cannot stand pieces being out of place or unsubmissive to his grand plan. Nikolai is left in the dark as to why he cannot venture into the woods, why he was even taken in by a man who rarely acknowledges his existence, and what his relation to the two men even is.
