Jacoby is an EMT and paramedic with Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. When he's not busy saving lives he lives on a retired farm 10 miles north of Mondamin, Iowa, with his husband Jimmy and two children Eliza and Priscilla. He enjoys reading, gardening, and spending time with his family.

Jimmy is a jack of all trades; he has certifications for EMT B, EMT I, two levels of paramedic, RN, pilot, and flight nurse. He is currently the flight nurse manager with Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. He is happiest when he's in his medical chopper, out saving lives and working in the field. Jimmy is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic. Jacoby found him half-dead in an alley in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1998, when they got a call for 'another drunk homeless guy'. No one ever figured out how, but Jimmy survived that night when he should've died. He and Jacoby grew close during his difficult recovery and married in January of 2000. Their marriage has been difficult, but they've stuck it out through four relapses and the death of one infant child. In his spare time, Jimmy enjoys spending time with his family, reading, and gardening. He and Jacoby can often be found a mile up the gravel at Hank Mark's home, helping the widower with household chores or just providing companionship. Hank is a second father to them and until Jimmy's family was found in 2006, was all the family Jimmy had.
