Kyra is originally from Iowa but moved to Houston after meeting a man online that stole her heart. She works for the local animal shelter, helping rescue dogs find their forever homes. Her life is turned upside down after a few months of living in Houston as she discovers her boyfriend is not who he seemed to be. Already in too deep with him, she blames herself for everything that goes wrong and everything he does. She meets JJ one day as the Texans come to the shelter to promote adopting rescue animals in the community, and she quickly befriends him - much to the dismay of her boyfriend.

Alex met Kyra online, and after several visits between the two of them, he convinced her to move with him to Houston. He is a partner at his dad's law firm, and he often works late. He is charismatic but must be in control. He is, on the outside, a humbled and refined man with family values. Kyra sees the monster he becomes but is either too afraid or too in love to leave.

Karissa moved to America from the Philippines at the age of two. She met Brian Cushing in their first year at USC while she was in business school. He came to her rescue at a frat party, and they instantly connected. She moved with him to Houston when he was drafted. They own a house together that is usually the hotspot for all Texans parties, and she loves staying home to cook and craft. She is a makeup artist with her own studio and shop in downtown Houston.
