Heather is Jobie's best friend. They met when Heather's dad moved in with Jobie's mother and they came to stay the summer. Brad is Heather's brother. As teenagers, he developed such a strong crush on Jobie that he attempted to molest her at a campsite. Eventually, he was arrested for burning down the cabin that the kids hung out in on Gary's parents' land. After spending six years in prison for arson, he's been let out on good behavior and has nowhere else to go but his sister's apartment. A natural born troublemaker, he's far from ready to change his ways.

Jason is Sam's longtime boyfriend. They met through Sam's younger sister, as they both used to work at the same tire center. Jason's a talented mechanic and has no problem paying the bills while Sam goes to school and only works part time. Some see him as a pushover when it comes to Sam, but most people usually are.
