Brunette, blue-eyed and heavily tattooed Lily was born in Birmingham, England but moved into the City of London at a young age. Born to a footballer father and a politician mother, she has had a tough and strict upbringing and tended to rebel more as a teenager. She has a brother named Jamie who is two years older than her and the two were incredibly close growing up until Jamie does the unthinkable. Lily used to work in Broadmoor Criminal Lunatic Asylum where she befriended Charles Bronson, Britain's most violent and dangerous inmate. She met him at thirteen years old when her father tried 'knocking some sense into her'. Instead of being scared, Lily looked upon Charlie as her uncle. After the incident with her brother, Lily escapes to Huntington Beach, California for a fresh start and meets up with an old friend from back home before starting work at Orange County Prison where she catches the eye of a very dangerous inmate.

Born in London, England, Julia moved to Huntington Beach at the age of 15 when her father, George, was offered a promotion and began running his own company after the death of the original company owner. Julia now runs the company whilst her father is semi-retired and helps businesses get off the ground to which they return interest and publicity as they continue to grow. At the start of the story, Julia finds out she's pregnant to long-term boyfriend Jason, who she has been dating since she was 17 years old. She found adjusting to school life in the US harder due to her being new and having a different accent. She is the best friend of Lily Kerr and helps her to feel at home in Huntington Beach. Julia is a dirty-blonde almost brunette with blue eyes and doesn't have many tattoos unlike her best friend. She has a friendship one on her wrist to do with Lily that are a pair of handcuffs (to do with them getting arrested many times when they were younger).

Jason is Julia's boyfriend of 8 years. He is a Lieutenant/firefighter for Huntington Beach Fire Department (HBFD). He has a son with Julia, named Rory. He instantly looks upon Lily as his sister-in-law due to how close she is with Julia.

Charles “Charlie” Bronson

Real name Michael Gordon Peterson, Charles Bronson is his “alter ego” that landed him in prison in 1974 where he robbed a post office in the United Kingdom. Charlie has been in many different prisons over the years he's been incarcerated and that is where he met Lily and became her adoptive uncle. He is overly protective of Lily, almost seeing her as his own child sometimes and only wants the best for her. He is known for his anger issues and problems with ***s, pedophiles and terrorists, as well as his love of roof top protests. Charlie is currently incarcerated in HMP Wakefield (2014) but in the story he is in Full Sutton.

He then went on to *** his and Lily's parents in front of Lily. He has Bipolar disorder, paranoid schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder. He has not spoken to Lily since the ***s of their parents in January 2007, but they slowly learn to understand each other again. Until something terrible happens.

Tobias “Toby” Kensington

Toby is Julia's older brother of four years. He is introduced into the story in Chapter 33 after being in Australia for nearly ten years, becoming a doctor before flying back over to the US to continue being a resident. Toby has a few secrets with Lily which will cause tension between him, Lily and of course, Zack. Toby has always had feelings for Lily, who has never seen him as anything more than her friend.
