Deconstruction of the Cool Girl. She's tomboyish--loves pizza, burgers, wings, bbq; comics, video games, going to parties, drinking beer, and smoking pot (though not cigarettes). But she doesn't deny her femininity or view "girly-girls" as lesser. She wears dresses, loves bubblegum-flavored lip gloss, and wears makeup and likes to get her hair and nails done. While very laid-back, she doesn't allow herself to be disrespected. She is strong and independent, passionate, and a loyal friend. She loves art. Her grandmother, Bernice, was and still is her hero. Jay is her cousin and Robbie is her platonic BFFL who people think she's dating. She can watch some horror movies but will faint or throw up at the sight of blood. Her D&D character is an elf.

Kaylee's best friend since childhood and twin brother to Mal. He smokes cigarettes and weed, and also drinks. He's into videogames, D&D, and horror movies, though he has to be careful what he watches around Kaylee because she faints or pukes at the sight of blood. People tend to think that Kaylee and Robbie are dating, though the two would never date. They're just platonic friends who happened to go to prom together. Robbie lives in the same neighborhood as Kaylee since they could never live too far from each other, but he attends an art school while Kaylee attends the local university.

He's tattooed, pierced, and has a wicked grin. At first he and Kaylee annoy the hell out of each other but soon realize they can't live without each other. Wyatt is sarcastic and snarky but has a good heart and, like Kaylee, is also laid-back. He's a skater kid who plays guitar. His D&D character is a Halfling Bard. He befriends Robbie, Mal, Jay, and Erin; like them, he enjoys weed, parties, and videogames. Wyatt also smokes cigarettes. He lives downtown, within walking distance of Robbie's work and Jay's apartment. To Kaylee's initial horror, Wyatt goes to the same college as her and they have a class together.

Erin and Kaylee met when they were on dance team together in high school and have been friends ever since. Erin is more "girly" than Kaylee but they're still soul-sisters and enjoy shopping, salon days, and going to parties and clubs together. Erin and Kaylee go to the same college together, and are roommates. Erin is also laid-back and very sweet.
