Saya is L's little sister. When their parents died, L and Saya were sent to Wammy's house and they were separated(by L's request). L thought that he wouldn't be able to take care of her and be a good big brother to her so he told Roger to keep his true identity a secret from her and for her (like the rest of the people at Wammy's house) to only know him as L.
