Isabel, or Renee, lives with her step-brother Greg. Her fake parents had divorced right after they found her and both died long ago. She loves running and wolves. She meets Ian Black, a local werewolf, when she is running through the woods. She saves who she believes to be a normal wolf only to find that deep within the heart of her woods lives a group of werewolves. She wandered away as a baby and her family--and her mate, Ian--never saw her again. Until Ian saved her, that is. Isabel has greenish eyes and black hair that reaches her shoulders. She has snakebites and a tattoo of a butterfly on her cheek that she got when she turned fourteen.

Ian is a werewolf who lost his mate when he was two because she got lost. He was alone for fourteen years before she showed up in his woods and took a bullet for him when he was in wolf form after farmers accused him of killing their livestock. He takes her back home and tries desperately to make her love him. His natural hair color is auburn, but he dyes his hair black. When in wolf form, his fur turns russet again. He has blue-gray eyes and is a very outgoing boy. He sacrifices everything for Isabel and would go to Hell and back if it made her smile.
